Kevinski and I found a new place along Gusa. We were out last Sunday afternoon for some project he is doing and asked for my assistance. We were told that there was a really nice place we can go along the mountains of Gusa. We were not prepared for what we’ll go through. We had no idea what we had to go through. We didn’t bring any food or water or candy, really unprepared. Our attires were not for hiking and adventure as well. We dared to hike past Gusa Regional Science High School to where the pathway ends. We crossed a concrete wall which has a hole and found that another concrete road was behind it past a group of shrubs. So we followed that road and another path to a spot where we could openly see the city, Macajalar Bay, and the sunset. So nice. It was by far a nice experience to explore places I haven’t gone to. Hoping to be back there again, with my young bro or with the youths maybe. Upon going home, we decided to continue with the path at the back of the unfinished, empty Chinese Orthodox church. We even attempted to walk along the barb wire fence until a resident advised us to go back and go down to where the path is. Saved. Safe. T’was an nice experience though. It refreshed me at the start of the week.

Weekdays had gone so fast with the kids, playing with them, talking with them. My word smart kid has Cracatoa and boomerang on her language and asked me about the meaning of those words. What a wonder to hear them learn. Knowing that they have potentials and have the abilities to become what they want to be. Then we had these practices and paperworks to do, lots of it. Yet, each day is like a game, with the children.

Friday night was another refreshing time. The usual walks along the bridge, talks here and there, a short rest at Gaston Park, GPS, etc. And pizza for dinner courtesy of Kevinski. Thanks Kevs.

Ended my week with a jamming session with the group I was so comfortable with. I missed their company, I missed jamming with them, I missed making music with them, I missed singing with them, I missed playing with them. I was so glad we had gathered tonight without planning for it. We just came and picked our instruments, swapping instruments every now and then, the usual. I had fun with them tonight. Breaker always amazes me with the musical talents he has. Tonight he played and sang a classic song, a Bon Jovi song, a Freestyle song, etc. I’m always amazed with him. His musical talent has really improved. Macky’s drum skill has smoothen, it is always not too loud or irritating. His spirit of service is always encouraging and inpiring. Lalat by the way has built a strong determination to finish his studies. No wonder I treasure these guys and their company.

It was a nice week indeed. From the mountain-top experience to the jamming session. Thank you Lord. It was a refreshing week, a time to recharge, relax and leave behind worries about my work and the things I ought to do.
