I remember 20 years ago, my parents bought our second television. The first one bought while I was too young to remember. It was a 12-inch colored tube with buttons for channel, a knob for its power and volume and an antenna which we would occasionally turn to search and catch for frequencies. It was bought mainly because of the Barcelona Olympics 1992. We love sports, we watch games, play volleyball, and I swim for competition and pleasure. I remember cheering for the USA Dream Team of Micheal Jordan, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, John Stockton, among others and watching intently on their televised athletic competitions. I was not a big swimming fan then, it bored me.

I delight in the thought that our parents bought television not for telenovelas or any typical shows on the TV even then. To say, we don’t possess a working television set now at home. Instead, we turn to the net for news and any interesting articles and reading. Movies can be rented or acquired from my brothers and sister. I am not fond of telenovelas anyway, it makes me sleepy. Then again, I have no plans of buying a tube in the near future.

I haven’t been updating my blog these days, again. There’s just not much to share here these days. Or nothing that I want to write about or share with in any way. Or that there is just nothing that I can write about. Whatever is the reason, blog drought is the word I know to describe this.

I’m thankful though for this summer. Though I have classes on mornings, my afternoons were free. Thus I held a swimming class in the afternoon for two weeks only, oblivious from my boss, for obvious reasons. And some out of town trips on the sides, for the summer. Thankful that I’m in the education sector.

I’ve been listening to the song “Voices That Care” in repeat mode tonight. I’ve heard this song played on the taxi last Saturday and I can’t quite shake off the tune. I had almost memorize the lyrics now. Looked it up at Youtube and happy to see Micheal Bolton, Jani Lane (Warrant vocalist) and Luther Vandross in the video, and a very young Celine Dion and Will Smith. Such a nice song. I will soon shake off this tune. I even wished I know the chords of this song so I can play it.

So the holiday has ended and tomorrow is another workday. I’m proud to say that I had turned my boredom into something productive. I tidied up our house and done some cleaning. Not bad for the holidays. I am so glad I had a long break from work.

Its only the 2nd day of my 7 day vacation and I’m bored. I’m scrimping on some dvd’s I haven’t seen. Just something for me to while the time with anyway. I am getting back to my cooking passion that I bought stocks of sauce for carbonara and experiment spaghetti. I am overloaded with sweets these days I munch M&Ms and drink ice tea everyday. Separation anxiety hasn’t kicked in yet though. By next week, I’ll be busy with summer schedules. I’m suppose to be somewhere else right now though. Got invited to be somewhere else for the holidays but declined it. No regrets though.

I was back to my mother’s hometown for the weekend. Actually, for my dear uncle’s wake. I usually spend my summers there with our grandparents. Cleaning up the house and the yard were the morning tasks. Afternoons were spent playing in the yards, climbing unto the guava and lanzones trees after some forced snooze. It was a 3 hour drive from the city. I usually get on the night trips to Medina but I went there on a Saturday morning last weekend. I was in no rush anyway. Saturday was spent with the family and going for some errands. I woke up on Sunday with a nice chat with my 7 year old cousin and some fixing with the beds and room. After a sumptuous brunch of scrambled egg and a tasty fish paste, I went to their park to rummage some bargains I brought home. Then got back to work I brought with me at home. At 5PM, I went to the market to buy some bread, like we used to. Actually, there was no need for snacks since the table still has fruits but I just had a craving to buy some bread. It would have been nice if there was a chocolate soup to pair it with. Just like old times, just like old times. It was so good to be back to my mother’s hometown, it was indeed refreshing and relaxing. The time with my relatives are priceless and the place is relaxing. TYL.
