This’ll just be a trivial post but I got to put this on nonetheless. Nothing big, nor important. Very trivial. Last night was my first to lie on a sidewalk gutter. Well, to watch the fireworks at SM City CDO. It was awesome seeing it from below in that angle. T’was my second though to watch fireworks in that angle. The first was during the fireworks display of XU Days. And it was directly below us. So nice. Expensive fireworks display are a treat.

My first rafting experience was a try. It was on a December morning so the sun is hot and the water is clear. We know that being under it for hours makes one tired. So it was on that December day. I was tired but enjoyed the experience as well, for a first-timer.
The second time though was a bit different. The sun was setting and the rapids were not too much compared to the December experience. The water was clear. The sun is high. Some of the rapids weren’t too challenging. It was fun being with 3 rafts, jumping to the waters, swimming, etc. And the thing I like about this experience, I was standing most of the time while going through the rapids and paddling. It was not too tiresome, not too energy-draining. I like it. I’ve got to do it again. Going through those rapids while standing makes it more fun. And there’s one more I would like to try though, ADVANCE. Looking forward to it.
Oh yeah. What could happen to our country now? What would happen to Filipino workers in other countries after the Monday hostage drama? As Mr. Chan puts it, it could happen to any country. Definitely, it could happen to anybody, anywhere, anytime. Anyone could have a different reaction. Any police could have responded on the scene and respond differently. Even though the police or any other defense authority did their job, they were still criticized by people whose butt were glued to their chair during that night. I was one of them. Being a crime scene investigation tv series fan, I too have my share of what-ifs and what-could-haves based on those things I’ve watched. Thinking while watching the action unfold in the tube is different from thinking while letting your guards up because bullets were being fired over your head. They may be sworn to that duty, but bear with them people. They also have fears and concerns. We can’t ask them to be robots and just follow the directions being directed on them without hesitation or any thought of what would happen. Humans like you and me. It was just unfortunate that the hostages were killed during the ordeal.
Then the country had the major, major event in the pageantry. Like I’ve said, human as we are, we do make mistakes. In Miss Raj’s case, she must have been overwhelmed at the pedestal she was on and got excited, over excited that it affected her intellectual response. Anyone could be in her position and responded differently, again. Or, for some of the contestants on that stage, they responded the way we expected them to. It could happen to us sometimes. We walk on the street or just stand on the sidewalk when out of the blue a colleague passes by and calls us from his or her vehicle, shouting our name. What could your possible response be? Will you shout and say the person’s name or be speechless and freeze? We put high expectations on Ms. Raj that we were frustrated when she didn’t perform the way we wanted her to. What’s bad is that the public focused too much on her response, forgetting that she had conquered something else. Being a Philippine representative to a prestigious pageant, rarely does our ladies reach to that level. Accept it readers, we ought to understand the lady and congratulate her for accepting everything gracefully.
A fun-filled reunion and weekend that was (detailed entry on my next post). Followed shortly by the hostage drama and the Miss Universe pageant. Then looking forward to a 4-day break from work. Wheeh..
NO CLASS on Friday and Monday. Monday is a national holiday. While Friday is our city’s fiesta celebration. Can’t wait for Friday. No definite plans yet on what to do on that long weekend. Swimming is on the list but I doubt it if I could do it. I’d like to visit my niece and nephew at Agusan del Sur though. But I have commitments on Sunday. Oh well.. Thankful for the break though.
I’ve always thought that the month of July is so good to me. That the month brings me good things.
Yes indeed. It was a month of ups and downs. Though mostly stressed. But fun indeed. There were days that nothing else occupies my mind but work and the things my boss asked me to do, most of the days really. There were also days that I wish I could take a day off and not think of work, of responsibilities, of obligations. There were also afternoons and nights that were filled with laughter and smiles.
Still thankful for everything that happened, may it be good or not so good. Thankful for the people who gave blue balloons, blue cake, who texted, called, left messages on my fb account, came. Thankful for the people who kept me company even in the wee hours of the night while I do my work and stressed my mind and body out for things unknown. Thankful for the people who stopped and brought music into my life. Grateful for the things seen and unseen.
Life is indeed good.
